IRONCLADS/WEAPONS:
IRONCLAD*
Ironclads, ships coved with iron plates, played an important role in the Civil War because they offered more protection that a wood ship would. The union blockade was General Scott's Anaconda Plan. It prevented goods from getting to Europe. Also a Musket was a type of weapon used in the civil war. Now in days we would call it a gun. It could be as long as five feet and have a firing range of up to 300 yards. It was used to shoot enemies who come near. Another weapon was the the Pike, the most commonly used waepon. It was a long woodem shaft with a sharp steel point on the end. It could be used to injury a horse a soldier was on to make him an easier target.
